VA Facility Quality Ratings & Wait Times

Quality ratings are based on the VA SAIL (Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning) composite framework, which evaluates clinical outcomes, efficiency, and patient-centered care. Ratings are translated to a 1–5 scale consistent with the CMS star rating system used for civilian hospitals on this site.

Wait times represent the average number of days from a veteran's preferred appointment date to their completed appointment, as reported through the VA Access to Care program. Data covers primary care, mental health care, and specialty care appointments at VA Medical Centers.

Patient satisfaction scores are derived from the SHEP (Survey of Healthcare Experiences of Patients) program, which surveys veterans after care episodes. Scores range from 0–100.

Patient volume figures represent the approximate number of unique patients served annually at each facility, sourced from VA Annual Report data and the VA Support Service Center (VSSC).
